We are a small racing team based in Charleston, WV. We have been racing junior dragsters for the past four years and this year moved to a pro mod mean 16 car. We will be running the car at Shelor Motor Mile in Radford, Va as well as other tracks that support the Mean 16, Quick 16 races.
Morgan Racing LLC – Corey’s Racing History
I have been racing Junior Dragsters since June 2004. I started out in a Spitzer 9.90 second car. Within six months I quickly learned how to stage the car and to cut great lights from .001 to .050 reaction times. I quickly moved out of this car and into a 2004 half scale dragster running the 7.90 second class with a 3” Whaley Racing engine. The engine was changed to a 3.5” Metro Racing engine for the Half Scale car in order to improve my 60 foot times.
Again I learned this car as quickly as I did the Spitzer car. At the local tracks I regularly place in the top 5 positions or better since I started racing the half scale junior dragster. I have won 6 second place trophies and 2 first place trophies. I have my IHRA masters license and my NHRA license. I can and do run both NHRA and IHRA tracks depending on the events.
In July 2005 I started drag racing in the major junior events around the eastern states. I have raced at Rockingham, Bristol Motor Speedway, and Gateway International Dragway for the 2005 season.
In June 2004 I participated in the Mountain State Junior Nationals at Kanawha Valley Dragway and came in 3rd place. This was my first big junior race.
I participated in the Eastern Conference Finals at Bristol Motor Speedway in July 2005 where I placed in the quarter finals.
I ran the Pure Power Fall Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway in September 2005 where I won the 15- 17 year old class and won the “King of the Hill” race.
I ran the Halloween Nationals in October 2005 at Gateway International Dragway in St. Louis where I placed 10th out of approximately 100 junior dragsters. We were the car to beat. We red lit with a -0.001 light.
Morgan Racing LLC – Corey's Aspirations
Objective
To go to college and get a degree, maybe in the medical field, win races and move into a dominate position as a professional driver and even further as the opportunity arises.
Racing Plans
I will be running the Mean 16 and Quick 16 classes, heads up racing at Shelor Motor Mile, Bristol, Columbus, and possibly some tracks down south.
We would like to be able to move up to pro mod racing in the next couple of years if at all possible and achieve our goal of moving up the ladder to becoming a profession racer with a major team.
The 330-outlaw racing is just like the top fuel cars. They must qualify for the field and only the top 16 of the competitors will be allowed to run. In order to qualify I must have one of the fastest cars. I would like to be able to set the yearly record and be the car to beat at these races. The 330-outlaw class follows a yearly circuit and races at nine major events at top dragstrips around the eastern states.
After this I plan to attend college and run our Mean 16 car or a differnet pro mod car and work my way up the ladder to become a driver for a major team maybe in top fuel or alcohol. I am hoping that I can achieve these goals and that someday be a tprofessional drag racer.
